ICRC representatives visited captured Azerbaijani soldiers in Armenia
Baku/08.08.23/Turan: On August 7, representatives of the ICRC visited two Azerbaijani servicemen detained in Armenia. This is reported by the ICRC representative office in Azerbaijan. The military was given the opportunity to contact the families by phone and letters.
"In accordance with its mandate, the ICRC evaluates the treatment and conditions of detention of detainees during visits and creates conditions for the restoration or maintenance of relations with their families. In accordance with the procedures of the ICRC, comments and recommendations regarding visits are brought only to the detained party," the message said.
Recall that in April 2023, two soldiers of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces crossed the border from Armenia from the Shahbuz region of Nakhchivan. A few days later, soldiers Babirov Agshin, born in 2004, and Akhundov Huseyn, born in 2003, were captured. According to official information, they moved to the opposite side due to weather conditions.
The Armenian side accused Babirov and Akhundov of "illegally crossing the state border of Armenia, transporting firearms and ammunition." Huseyn Akhundov is also accused of "murdering a security guard of the Zangezur copper-molybdenum combine." -16D-
