Lavrov proposed to hold a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Moscow
Baku/31.01.23/Turan: On Tuesday, January 31, a telephone conversation took place between the Foreign Ministers of the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan - Sergey Lavrov and Jeyhun Bayramov.
The ministers continued discussing ways to resolve the situation around the Lachin corridor, the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.
“The importance of resuming rhythmic work on all tracks of the Azerbaijani-Armenian normalization was emphasized on the basis of trilateral agreements between the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. In this context, the readiness of the Russian side to organize in Moscow the next round of talks between the heads of the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Armenia on a draft peace treaty between the two countries was confirmed,” the press release of the Russian Foreign Ministry reads further.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted with regret that, contrary to the Trilateral Statement, the demands of Azerbaijani protesters to stop illegal economic activities and misuse of the Lachin road have not yet been fulfilled, the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said. He stressed that the allegations of a blockade of the Armenian population and a humanitarian crisis have no basis.
He drew attention to the fact that Azerbaijan, immediately after the 2020 war, made proposals in the direction of establishing and normalizing relations with Armenia, delimitation, opening transport communications and signing a peace agreement with Armenia.
However, Armenia's provocations hinder this process.
During the telephone conversation, there was also an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.—06B-
