Ministry of Foreign Affairs Generally Satisfied with Assessments of International Monitoring Mission of Parliamentary Elections
Baku / 11.02.20 / Turan: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan is generally satisfied with the estimates of the International Monitoring Mission of the results of the February 9 parliamentary elections. This follows from the text of a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on February 10 in response to a mission statement on primary election assessments.
“We highly appreciate the positive aspects reflected in the statement of the International Election Observation Mission, including the comprehensiveness of the candidate registration process, good governance of the electoral process, transparency in the activities of the Central Election Commission, as well as important steps taken to ensure the suffrage of internally displaced persons from for the impossibility of holding elections in 10 constituencies that are not or partially controlled by Azerbaijan due to the continuing conflict with Armenia. ”
Although we do not agree with some points in the Mission statement, presented as flaws, we note that they are mainly of a procedural and organizational nature.
Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate with the OSCE / ODIHR on an equitable and constructive basis, "the statement said.
Recall that the International Mission, consisting of representatives of the OSCE / ODIHR, OSCE PA and PACE, identified serious shortcomings in the pre-election period and on the elections day, and criticized the Azerbaijani authorities for not complying with the decisions of the European Court and not creating conditions for free and fair elections. -02D-
