Mobile X-ray scanner installed at Lachin border checkpoint
Baku/02.05.23/Turan: A mobile X-ray machine that scans the contents of vehicles has been installed at the Lachin border checkpoint on the border with Armenia. This was reported to Turan by military expert Adalyat Verdiyev. The information is confirmed by the picture of the British HCV-m mounted on the mobile platform. The hardware brand HCV-m (mobile) is marked on the side of the rig.
Note that HCV monitors the contents of cars, trucks and containers at customs checkpoints, as well as transport infrastructure facilities including airports and seaports. Up to 23 trucks per hour. Steel penetration up to 400 mm," the equipment data sheet says.
The possibility of installing X-ray equipment to inspect cargo on the Lachin road was first announced by Andrey Volkov, commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Karabakh, in December 2022. However, he did not keep his promise.
According to information from the Armenian side, after the opening of the Lachin checkpoint the Armenians are suggesting to the new RMC commander, Lentsov, that an Armenian compromise be accepted at the negotiations in Baku. The proposal from the leadership in Khankendi is that the X-ray machine would be operated by RPC employees, while the Azerbaijani side would monitor the checkpoint online, remotely. However, Baku refuses to accept the proposal. -0-
