President congratulates the Orthodox Christians on Merry Christmas
Baku / 04.01.19 / Turan: President Ilham Aliyev congratulated the Orthodox Christians of the country on the occasion of Christmas. The greeting posted on the website of the head of state states that the Orthodox are the largest Christian denomination in Azerbaijan, where they live in peace and prosperity together with other denominations.
"Like other national minorities of our country, the Orthodox Christian community makes a worthy contribution to interethnic and interreligious relations, takes a close part in the process of building a civil society in Azerbaijan.

The document expresses concern about the backsliding of democracy and human rights violations in several countries, including Azerbaijan and Georgia.
