State Security Service Confirms Information about the Arrest of Head of Foreign Ministry Directorate (updated) (UPDATED)
The State Security Service confirmed the information about the arrest Faig Bagirov, the head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The investigation had reasonable suspicions that Bagirov, through the third secretary of the consular affairs and document confirmation department, Ilgar Aliyev, the head of the consular and legal department, Nurupasha Abdullayev and other issued visa applications for foreign citizens, the press release of the department.
In the same way, bribes were taken for the provision of an apostille for documents for the citizens of the Azerbaijan Republic and foreign states for the accelerated procedure.
In respect of Bagirov and a group of persons who were in collusion with him, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen. They are accused of repeated receiving bribes. -0-

Another senior of the Foreign Ministry official detained
Baku/07.10.20/Turan: On July 10 the head of the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Faig Bagirov was detained by State Security Service officers.
A source in the Foreign Ministry confirmed the information.
Bagirov is charged with abuse of power and misappropriation.
According to the same source, Bagirov will appear before the court today to select a preventive measure against him.
Earlier, during a special operation of the State Security Service in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the head of the financial department Farhad Mollazade, the head of the management department Salim Alizade and the head of the consular and legal department of the Consular Department Nurupasha Abdullaev were detained.
