Filmmakers Union Competition: “Outstanding Azerbaijanis of Russia”
Baku / 05.02.20 / Turan: Azerbaijan Filmmakers Union and A.M. Public Diplomacy Support Gorchakov Fund hold a script contest "Outstanding Azerbaijanis of Russia."
The purpose of the competition is to talk about the life and work of prominent Azerbaijanis in Russia, about their achievements in culture and art, science and technology, in social and production work from ancient times to today, as well as to increase the interest of filmmakers in the production of documentaries.
Conditions of the competition:
1. Scenarios of documentaries can be presented in the genres of cinema essays, film portraits, film studies (no more than 52 min.).
2. Scripts are accepted in Azerbaijani and Russian.
3. Scenarios are sent electronically by March 20, 2020, to info@aki.az.
4. The scripts submitted to the competition must belong to the author, be original and not screened.
5. The author’s resume is attached to the work.
6. The winners of the competition, which will be determined by a jury led by the national writer of Azerbaijan Rustam Ibrahimbekov, will be awarded with a diploma and a cash prize.
The first prize - 1,500 AZN.
The second prize – 1,000 AZN.
The third prize - 500 AZN.

The search for identity and meaning in life by modern humans is a topic recently addressed by many artists. The group exhibition "Everything Will Be Alright: Tomorrow or Someday" at YAY Gallery features works by Rasim Babayev, Elshan Baba, Orkhan Huseynov, Terlan Gorchu, Aida Mahmudova, Qafar Rzayev, Zamir Suleymanov, and CHINGIZ. This exhibition explores various aspects of truth and identity through the contemporary lens. Curated by Zahra Mammadova, the exhibition focuses on how art influences individuals.

People seek to learn about past eras by conducting research on the internet, watching films, or being regular attendees of theatrical performances. Some periods in cultural history have not been deeply studied, and finding precise, detailed information in the Azerbaijani language is nearly impossible. One such period is the Qajar era, which lasted from 1794 to 1985.
