According to the report, on September 4, Nazir Hasanov, a resident of the village of Alput, Ujar region, 2nd-group disabled, committed an act of self-immolation in the courtyard of  his house. On September 5, he died in the burn department of the City Clinical Hospital No. 5.

The prosecutor's office of the Ujar region is conducting an investigation into the fact. The reason for the veteran's suicide is the reduction of the 2nd-group disability pension and the presidential pension. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, which issued a statement on this matter, said that these claims are groundless.

This is the second suicide of veterans in a week. On September 2, 33-year-old native of Kalbajar region Ruslan Alexandrovich Ardatiev died by cutting his own throat in his apartment in the Khatai district.  The  Khatai district prosecutor's office  is conducting an investigation into the fact.

Haji Veliyev, a chairman of the public association “Gənc qazilər” (“Young Veterans”) talks about the reasons for the suicide of veterans on the air of the “Difficult Question” program.  (Veteran suicide. Why didn't anyone say "Stop!"?

He said that no one was punished for the  death of the veteran Hasanov Zaur, who set himself on fire in 2013 in protest against the arbitrariness of Sattar Mehbaliyev, the chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan; therefore, no one should expect  today the prosecution of those responsible for the death of veterans!

“We appeal to veterans through the media - suicide is not an option, do deprive  yourself life. We need to unite to help each other, support each other. But, despite this, Nazir Hasanov killed himself yesterday. He took this step after the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population (MLSPP), neglecting the fact that he was wounded in the Second Karabakh War, deprived him of the status of a war invalid. Despite repeated appeals to the MLSPP, he failed to regain his rights,” the veteran said.

According to Veliyev, officials show indifference to war invalids. “The same  attitude  was after the First Karabakh War, and the  same thing continues now,” he complains.--0-
