Who Was Hit by the Bullet Intended for Trump?
On July 13, during a meeting with voters in Pennsylvania, a bullet fired from a sniper rifle by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks grazed former President Trump's head, missing his brain by 1-2 centimeters, and injuring his ear.
Shortly after the incident, the head of public relations for the Secret Service, Anthony Guglielmi, wrote on X that Trump "is safe."
A representative for Trump told CNN that the presidential candidate is feeling well and underwent a medical examination at a nearby center.
Trump's candidacy is expected to be confirmed at the Republican Party convention in a few days. The election is four months away.
Trump's opponent, U.S. President Joe Biden, stated that he is glad to hear that Trump is safe and feeling well.
Political commentator Shahin Jafarli commented on this event in the program "Complex Question." He did not rule out the possibility that serious political forces in the U.S. might be behind the assassination attempt on Trump. However, according to him, we can only state that this is far from the first attempt on a president's life in U.S. history. Four sitting U.S. presidents have been killed as a result of assassination attempts. So, for America, this is not new. Therefore, the expert believes that it is not worth looking for deep political schemes behind this event, at least not at this moment.
Jafarli noted that in its statement yesterday, the FBI also pointed out that the assailant made this decision on his own initiative and acted alone according to his own plan. According to his confession, he was driven by a feeling of hatred towards the current Republican Party and Donald Trump.
The expert also mentioned that if the Democrats do not change their candidate (Joe Biden), then Trump is the favorite in the current presidential election.
