Will the tension between Baku and Tehran end?

Baku/11.10.21/Turan: Tension between Azerbaijan and Iran, lasting more than a month, is subsiding, but does not stop. Against this background, in recent days, several social networks of supporters of the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps - SEPAH - Sepah-e pasdaran-e enqelab-e Eslami) have posted a message about the creation of "Azerbaijan" in Azerbaijan.

At the same time, in a recent video clip of the YouTube project Caliber, it was shown that the Iranian army invaded the territory of Azerbaijan during the Second Karabakh War. According to this story, on October 17, 2020, when the advanced detachments of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces were moving along the Araz River to the dam of the Khudaferin State District Power Plant, they stumbled upon parts of the Iranian army. Having violated the norms of international law, Iran invaded the territory of Azerbaijan.

In order to avoid clashes with the Iranian military and the opening of a second front, the command of the detachments of the Azerbaijani front made a decision - to return to a 14-kilometer distance from them to the village of Sultanli and walk more than 20 kilometers.

The invasion of the Iranian military into the territory of Azerbaijan led to the loss of time for our then army, which allowed the Armenian occupation army to regroup, tighten up reserves, and strengthen the defense. Only after tense negotiations the Iranian military leave the territory of Azerbaijan.

In an interview with the Mehr news agency, Brigadier General Ahmed Ali Gudarzi, commander of the Iranian border service, said that "Israelis are present along the border with Azerbaijan, but the exact number is unknown."

This is not the first time that Iranian officials have made accusations against Azerbaijan, unanimously pointing out the military presence of Israel along the border.

At the same time, the Iranian side has not yet provided any evidence of this. Meanwhile, Iran continues to sow anti-Azerbaijani hysteria and loud accusations.

Apparently, Iran is trying to further aggravate relations with Azerbaijan. For what purpose is this being done and what can it lead to?

Political observer Nasimi Mammadli answered these and other questions in the "Difficult Question" program.

The expert believes that this problem should be considered more broadly.

“It is worth noting that today the world is changing, moving from unipolarity to multipolarity. Russia is one of the most serious players in Eurasia. Turkey as a regional power is also active in this arena. It's the same with China. India, Pakistan and Iran are also present here. At the same time, Iran is the weakest link in this arena. It is this weakness that prompts it to such hyperactivity,” Mammadli said.

The expert stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran borders on  seven countries. Six of these countries are Muslims. And Iran has serious problems just with these Muslim neighbors, despite the  fact  that the state ideology of Iran is precisely Islam! And only one Christian Armenia has good neighborly relations with Iran.

“Today Iran is making titanic efforts to acquire nuclear weapons. The question arises,  whom does Iran intend to use this weapon against? Against your Muslim neighbors? " Mammadli asks.

In his opinion, the reason for such a nervous reaction of Iran to the victory of Azerbaijan in the 44-day war was the fact that, as a result, it became a center of attraction for tens of millions of Azerbaijani Turks of Iran.

“This is causing the greatest concern in Iran. They understand that the strengthening of Azerbaijan, the resolution of its problems leads to the fact that it will be more and more attractive for the Turks of Iran,” the expert is convinced. —0—
