Xarici işlər nazirlərinin Vaşinqton görüşü ərəfəsində Blinken Əliyevdən nə istəyib? - Əhməd Əlili Çətin sualda
Baku/01.05.23/Turan: In a recent conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken emphasized the significance of peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and reiterated the United States' commitment to supporting the peace agreement, as reported by Turan's Washington correspondent.
The Secretary of State expressed concern about Azerbaijan's establishment of a checkpoint in the Lachyn corridor, which could hinder progress in the peace process, and urged the opening of the corridor to commercial and private vehicles as soon as possible.
The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Ceyhun Bayramov and Ararat Mirzoyan, have arrived in Washington for peace talks, and the Secretary of State plans to meet with each minister separately before participating in their bilateral discussions.
While most of the talks will take place at the National Training Center for Foreign Relations, Blinken will host a dinner with the ministers tonight.
The talks are set to last for several days, indicating that the US is committed to applying pressure until an agreement is reached.
Political scientist Ahmet Alili notes that the Lachyn corridor is only one component of the negotiations, and the US would prefer the talks to be held at the level of heads of state rather than foreign ministers.
