Azerbaijani company among contractors of TANAP gas pipeline construction
The consortium of the trans Anadolu gas pipeline (TANAP) has selected the contractors of construction of the gas pipeline, reported Turkish DHA agency on Tuesday.
The winners of the tender are Fernas Insaat, consortium Sicim-Yuksel-Accord and Tekfen Holding, which will built the section of the gas pipeline from the Georgian border to Erzurum (eastern part of the pipeline), from Erzurum to Sivas (central part) and from Sivas to Eskishekhir (western section).
TANAP envisages transportation of gas from the Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field Phase 2 to the European border through Turkey.
The initial carrying capacity of the pipeline will be 16 billion cub.m. of gas a year, of which 6 billion cub.m. will be exported to Turkey and the remaining volume to Europe. In the future the pipeline’s capacity could be expanded up to 31 billion cub.m. a year.
Gas export to Turkey will begin at the end of 2018 and as soon as construction of trans-Adriatic gas pipeline (TAP) is completed, gas will be delivered to Europe in about early 2020.
Cost of TANAP, which is about 1800 km long, is estimated at $11.8 billion.
After completion of the legal procedure, the composition of TANAP shareholders will look as following: SOCAR – 58%, Botas – 30% and BP – 12%.
On December 14, 2014 in Ankara the contracts were signed between six Turkish and one Chinese companies, which have won the earlier invited tender, for construction of TANAP gas pipeline. The winners of the tender are consortia of the companies "Mannesmann-Noksel-Erciyas", "Ümran-Emek" "Tosçelik Profil ve Sac Endüstrisi" companies and Chinese contractor "Baosteel Europe". All companies, which will be involved in construction and supply of TANAP in Turkey, will be exempt from VAT.—0—

Discussions were held in Baku within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, focusing on the "Decarbonization and Climate Adaptation of the Cotton-to-Clothing Value Chain." Among other topics, the state of cotton farming in Azerbaijan was also addressed.

Azerbaijan has attracted significant interest from companies in both developing and developed countries, as well as from state and private sector representatives of at least 10 nations, regarding participation as shareholders in the Climate Finance Action Fund (CFAF), which has a total budget of $1 billion. The Azerbaijani government has proposed that the OPEC Fund participate in financing several renewable energy projects, including offshore wind energy development, green energy corridor initiatives, and a 1 GW project planned by SOCAR in partnership with the UAE-based company Masdar.
