Azerbaijani gas export to Russia fully suspended
Baku/05.09.14/Turam: Export of Azerbaijani gas to Russia has been suspended again, a source from the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) said.
The deliveries have been suspended, because of construction of the remaining section of the Baku-Guba-Russian border automobile road and repair of the gas transportation infrastructure.
The company did not specify when pumping was suspended and how long it is going to last.
The plan of deliveries was 2 million cub.m. of gas a day.
This is the second suspension of gas deliveries from Azerbaijan to Russia this year. First time the pause was too long – from January 14, 2014 till the early June. The reason of suspension was almost the same – repair of the automobile highway.
During 2013 Azerbaijan delivered 1.37 billion cub.m. of gas to Russia, in 2012 – 1.75 billion cub.m. and in 2011 – 1.5 billion cub.m. In 2010, beginning of Azerbaijani gas export to Russia, the volume of deliveries totaled 799.7 million cub.m.
Considering operation of the gas pipeline, since early year Azerbaijan could deliver no more than 200 milion cub.m. of gas to Russia. Judging by all, for the first time since beginning of Azerbaijani gas export to Russia, this year the volume of gas deliveries will not exced 500 million cub.m.
* The contract on purchase-sale of Azerbaijani gas between SOCAR and Gasprom was signed in October 2009. The document has no strict obligatory conditions both for the supplier and the buyer. SOCAR reported that all the issues are regulated on the basis of mutual understanding.-0--
