Baku Metro initiated payments using QR codes
Baku/07.09.23/Turan: In a pioneering move, the Baku metro has initiated a pilot project enabling travelers to make payments via QR codes using the BakiKart mobile application at two of its stations, namely "Xocəsən" and "8 Noyabr."
LLC "K Group," the entity responsible for the BakıKart payment system, executed the necessary technical modifications at the stations' automatic checkpoints (turnstiles), implemented software systems, and conducted comprehensive testing in a trial mode.
This innovative payment method not only broadens payment options by eliminating the need for physical cards but also encourages the use of electronic devices, ultimately enhancing the quality of passenger services.--0--
To access the BakıKart application, individuals can download it from both Google Play and the App Store. Registration within the application is facilitated through a mobile phone number, following which users are required to deposit at least 1 manat into their account. Subsequently, users can generate their QR tickets, which become valid within 5 minutes. By presenting the QR code on the turnstile's display, passengers gain entry to the subway.
This forward-looking initiative aligns with the broader goal of modernizing and improving the efficiency of Baku's metro system, offering commuters a convenient and technologically advanced mode of payment.
