Employment in the industry grew by 4.2%
For the first two months of this year, the number of workers employed in the industrial sector amounted to 177 thousand people. This is 4.2% more than in the same period of 2012, the State Statistics Committee told Turan.
About half of the workers (88.4 million people) are employed in the processing sector. In the mining industry work 36.9 thousand people. In the field of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam work 31.4 thousand people. The number of employees in water supply, treatment and recycling of waste is at the beginning of March this year, 20.3 thousand people.
In January and February of this year, the average wage in the industry amounted to 605.8 manat, which is 12.4% more than in the comparable period of 2012. The average wage in the mining industry, according to SSC reached AZN 1400, an increase compared with the same period last year to 11.1%.
In the area of food production the wages increased by a third. However, in this area pay is one of the lowest in the country - 283 manat.
Less than the average wage in the country (about 400 AZN) is received by workers in beverage production - 393 manats (30.4%), tobacco products - AZN 323.7 (+7.8%), clothing - 347 manat (+12.5 %), electronic equipment - 327 manats (+5.5%), furniture - 329 manats (+30%), printing - AZN 278.6 (+1.8%), etc.
It is noteworthy that the first two months of this year decreased wages of employees of enterprises in textile industry (from 245 to 218 manat), fabricated metal products (from 660 to 483 manat) and water (from 264.7 to 260.8 manat). - 08D-

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
