At the initiative of the IDEA Public Union, the next mass tree-planting campaign has been launched across the country within the framework of the “Republican Green Marathon” (“Green Marathon”).
It is planned to plant about 1 million trees in all regions of the country in spring and autumn planting seasons and to expand the green areas during the campaign organized by the IDEA Public Union with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. The goal of the campaign is to expand the green areas, promote tree-planting, and thus contribute to the environmental conservancy, preservation of floral diversity in our country, and awareness of protection of landscaped areas.
Holcim Azerbaijan has joined this campaign and with participation of the Minister of Ecology and Natural resources planted 1000 trees around “Garadagh” Cement Plant. Holcim Azerbaijan has joined this initiative as a part of the global commitment made by LafargeHolcim for Sustainable Development. According to the commitment, LafargeHolcim should achieve 20% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030, produce green concrete as per the goal of global warming of 1.5°C, expand use of products and recycled materials, and accelerate production of green construction materials. Holcim Azerbaijan, as a member of LafargeHolcim, uses best endeavours to help reach these goals. In addition to greening, it offers solutions for waste management in the country and is ready to apply its global experience.
“We have a common goal and value - Sustainable Development. We should apply principles of sustainability in each work and in every step. We are ready to demonstrate our best practices in environmental protection. For example, today, we planted 1000 trees in this area, but our work is not over. We should also care for these trees and install an irrigation system. For this purpose, the work necessary for treatment and use of the wastewater in the irrigation system has started, and with this we can save clean water contributing to the environmental protection” said Ali Huseynov, Technical Director of the company.

Azerbaijan's retail trade turnover climbed 3.9% in real terms in 2024 compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 62.2 billion manats, the State Statistics Committee revealed. Food, beverages, and tobacco accounted for 34.1 billion manats, while non-food products contributed 28.1 billion manats to the total.
