Inadmissible Rise in Prices in Trading Network
The Chairman of the Movement for Democracy and Prosperity of Azerbaijan Gubad Ibadoglu has responded to the rise in prices in the trade and catering facilities.
According to him, in Kiev and Bishkek, where the national currency also slipped twofold less than in a year, the prices of food still are up to three times cheaper than in Baku.
The difference between our wholesale and retail from the Ukrainian and Kyrgyz counterparts is that local entrepreneurs use devaluation as the only chance to earn more. "With imports of goods purchased for foreign currency everything is clear, but it is unclear why prices for goods produced locally rise by 50% or more. It turns out that manufacturers and sellers just try to compensate for the impact of the February devaluation and use the December rise in prices to the detriment of the consumer. These actions lead to a drop in demand for goods, which in the short term also impacts their activities," said the expert.
However Ibadoghlu recommended that the government create a competitive environment in the sale of bread and other essential products to provide food security and prevent artificial price rise. ---17D-
