State Customs Committee exceeded the plan by 0.2%
Baku/09.01.14/Turan : Azerbaijan Customs Service provided allocation by subjects of foreign economic activities (FEA) of 1 billion 383 million 245 thousand manats, which is 3,245 AZN or 0.2 % more than the predicted figure for 2013 .
The share of value added tax accounted 986 million or 71.2% of customs duties. Compared to the previous year customs VAT increased by 11,6 %. Increased the collected customs duties ( 298.2 million manat) of 29.3 %. For other types of taxes ( excises - 81.3 million manat and road tax - 17.6 million manat) there were no major changes .
This year, customs officers have to collect 1 billion 510 million manats.
Businessmen claim that one of the sources of consumer inflation in Azerbaijan and monopoly in the consumer market is the country's customs service. Customs authorities manipulate prices for imported consumer goods are hold discriminatory policies against FEA subjects and even require exporters to extortion. For example , manufacturers of agricultural products now argue that local customs prevents them from exporting, requiring them to illegal exactions. This led to the fact that tens of thousands of tonnes of fruit (mainly apples and citrus fruit) are destroyed in warehouses or in the trees, remaining uncollected. 08D
