State Put Grain Stocks Up for Sale
The excitement in the food market has forced the government to sell state wheat reserves to prevent the growth of prices for bread.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the current price of bread and bakery products is provided through the implementation of the government stocks formed at the State Grain Fund under the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The maximum size of the state reserves of wheat is 750 thousand tons. Information about the status of the stocks is considered a state secret. The whole grain reserve is created by imports from Russia and Kazakhstan.
In 2014 1 million 195.6 thousand tons of wheat were purchased from abroad at the declared total cost of $ 293.9 million. This included 548.1 thousand tons from Kazakhstan and 630.2 thousand tons from Russia. ---08B

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less. This robust reserve position reflects Azerbaijan's fiscal stability and the government’s strategic economic management.
