“TotalEnergies”: there are only a few weeks left before the production of the first gas from Absheron
Baku/02.06.23//Turan: The production of the first gas from the Absheron field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea will begin in a few weeks, Jean-Luc Guiziou, Senior Vice President Europe, Exploration and Production at “TotalEnergies.” "Azerbaijan is a reliable supplier of energy resources to Europe. We, as TotalEnergies, are proud of this and that we contribute to this cause. Production of the first gas from the Absheron field will begin in a few weeks, which is of great importance from the point of view of our cooperation with SOCAR," Guiziou said yesterday at the Baku Energy Forum.
Joint Absheron Petroleum Operating Company (JOCAP), established by SOCAR Absheron (50%) and TOTAL E&P Absheron (50%), is engaged in the development of the Absheron field. The contract was signed in February 2009 for a period of 30 years.
The Absheron block is located 100 km from Baku at a depth of up to 600 meters. In 2019, drilling of an estimated well with a depth of 7411 meters was completed. The reserves of the field amount to 350 bcm of gas and 100 million tons of condensate.
The early production project provides for the production of 1.5 bcm of gas and about 500 thousand tons of condensate per year. Gas production in full at the “Neft Dashlary” (“Oil Rocks”) field will be transferred to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan at a fixed price (for consumption in the domestic market), and the condensate will be exported.
As part of the next stage of development, the entire volume of extracted gas is planned to be supplied to foreign markets. Currently, the companies participating in the Absheron project are conducting technical and economic work in this direction. --0-
