8 killed in Texas outlet mall shooting
Baku/07.05.23/Turan: A shooting at a shopping center in Allen, Texas, on Saturday left eight people dead and seven injured.
Witnesses reported seeing children among the victims. The gunman, who was later killed by a police officer who happened to be nearby, opened fire after stepping out of a car.
A database maintained by The Associated Press and USA Today in partnership with Northeastern University shows that mass killings are occurring at an average of about one per week in the United States this year.
President Biden was briefed on the shooting and offered support to local officials, while Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called it an “unspeakable tragedy.”
Shoppers fled in panic as shots rang out, with some hiding in storage rooms and fitting rooms. The incident comes amid a surge in gun violence in the U.S.—0-
