Blinken and Cavusoglu in search of common interests
Baku/24.03.21/Turan: Today, March 24, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu at a meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers in Brussels, State Department Spokesman Ned Price said.
Blinken and Cavusoglu discussed the long-standing importance of security cooperation between the United States and Turkey, including common interests in Syria and Afghanistan.
The Secretary of State expressed support for the ongoing preliminary talks between NATO allies Turkey and Greece.
Blinken called on Turkey to abandon the Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile system, expressed concern about Turkey's withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, and stressed the importance of democratic institutions and respect for human rights, Price said. -0—
