Greek authorities cooperate with Turkey to eliminate the consequences of the disaster - Mitsotakis
Anadolu: Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that Athens, cooperating with the Turkish authorities, is providing support in eliminating the consequences of devastating earthquakes with an epicenter in Turkish Kahramanmarash.
In an interview with CNN, Mitsotakis recalled that Greece was one of the first to express its readiness to provide assistance to a neighboring country. "The conditions are very difficult, but we are working closely with Turkish representatives," he said.
Mitsotakis stated that the peoples of Greece and Turkey are friendly. "Today is not the time for conflicts. We should focus on saving people from the rubble," the politician stressed, recalling that the mutual assistance of the two countries in eliminating the consequences of the 1999 earthquakes in the Marmara Sea and Athens areas. "Greece will continue to stand by Turkey in overcoming the consequences of this terrible tragedy," he assured.
Meanwhile, the ruling New Democracy party in Greece announced that, together with the youth branch of the political structure, it had launched a campaign to collect food and basic necessities for the victims of the earthquake in Turkey.
The Communist Party of Greece also called on the population to support the residents of Turkey and Syria.
The leading opposition structure, the SYRIZA party, also expressed its support for the campaign to help victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
The Greek media also voiced words of support and solidarity with Turkey in connection with the earthquake.
