Iranian Foreign Minister Seeks Regional Support for United Front Against Israel
Baku/13.10.23/Turan: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahiyan has embarked on a diplomatic mission aimed at garnering support from leaders of Muslim countries in Tehran's quest to create a unified coalition against Israel. On October 12, he conducted a series of high-level consultations, including visits to Lebanon and Iraq, and a telephone conversation with UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During his conversation with the UAE Foreign Minister, Abdollahiyan unequivocally denounced the alleged war crimes committed by the Israeli government and the ongoing blockade of the Gaza Strip. He underscored the urgent need for Arab and Muslim nations to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, as reported by IRNA, the Iranian state news agency.
However, as events show, few people hear the call for consolidation in an Islamic mind full of contradictions.
Abdollahiyan had initially planned to extend his diplomatic mission to Syria. However, his travel plans were abruptly altered due to Israeli Air Force rocket attacks on two airports within Syria.
In Iran, the nation witnessed a surge of demonstrations and actions in support of Palestine on Friday, as various cities across the country took part. In Tehran, streets became a focal point for supporters of the Hamas operation "Storm of Al-Aqsa." According to reports from IRNA, throngs of demonstrators chanted the slogan "death to Israel."
Simultaneously, Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, issued a strong call for Israel to rescind its evacuation order for the northern part of the Gaza Strip. Israel had previously issued this order, instructing residents to relocate to the southern region of the enclave within a 24-hour timeframe.
The United Nations raised concerns over the impact of this order, as it directly affects approximately 1.1 million individuals—half of the Gaza Strip's population. Gaza City, with its high population density, is situated in the northern sector. Dujarric emphasized the urgent necessity of canceling this order, stating that it could transform an already dire situation into a catastrophic one.--0--
