Kazakhstan Introduces QR-Code Security System for Foreign Tourists
Kazakhstan's Interior Ministry has launched a new security initiative for foreign tourists, providing each visitor with a QR-coded card upon entry, directing them to an online multilingual platform, SafeTravel.kz.
The move follows President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s recent address emphasizing the strategic importance of tourism development and improving conditions for international visitors. The QR-coded cards, first distributed at the capital's international airport, grant access to essential safety information, emergency contacts, and travel guidelines.
SafeTravel.kz offers a range of services, including a "102" mobile app for immediate police assistance via an SOS function, migration law compliance guidelines, city maps linked to navigation apps, official taxi services, mobile network provider links, emergency service contacts, and protocols for handling various incidents.
The initiative aims to bolster security measures and enhance Kazakhstan’s reputation as a travel and investment-friendly destination.
