One person died and four were injured in a shooting near a shopping center in Los Angeles
RBC: An unknown person opened fire near a shopping center in the Los Angeles suburb of Willowbrook, five people were injured, one of them died in the hospital, NBC and CBS reported, citing the county sheriff's department.
The shooting occurred at a shopping center located between El Segundo Boulevard and San Pedro Street. According to investigators, an unknown man approached a group of people and began shooting, after which he fled the area southbound on San Pedro Street.
One of the victims, a 32-year-old man, died on arrival at the hospital. The remaining four victims - men between 40 and 50 years old - were hospitalized, one of them is in critical condition, and the condition of the rest is assessed as stable.
On December 6, a shooting occurred at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, leaving three people dead and another injured. The fire was opened by 67-year-old professor Anthony Polito, a law enforcement source told CNN, and the shooter himself also died. Police said investigators have not yet determined the motive of the perpetrator, but they know that the man applied for several positions at various colleges and universities in Nevada, but was rejected each time.
Police found 150 rounds of ammunition on the shooter and a list of planned targets, which included teachers from East Carolina University in North Carolina, where Polito worked from 2001 to 2017.
