‘Reality is much worse than their propaganda’ - FM Kuleba on strikes in Russian territory
The New Voice of Ukraine: As a result of drone strikes within Russian territory, Russians are beginning to see that reality is worse than what they are told on television, said Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba in a Jan. 15 interview with ABC News.
Kuleba did not provide details on drone strikes in Russia, but hinted that they were part of Kyiv's effort to demonstrate that the war will have negative repercussions for the Russian population.
"President Putin should explain to his people why all this is happening,” said Kuleba.
“I think it is useful from time to time to make [Russians] realize that the reality beyond their television screens is different, and can be much, much worse, than their propaganda leads them to believe.”
The frequency of drone strikes in Russia, including in Moscow, has increased since the summer of 2023. These attacks have sometimes been attributed to Ukraine, but Kyiv has typically not officially taken responsibility for them.
For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense consistently releases reports claiming to have intercepted drones across Russia.
There were two reports of attacks on Voronezh on the night of Jan. 16, and a state of emergency was declared in the city.
