ADWP is suing the Ministry of Justice
Baku/28.09.22/Turan: After the Ministry of Justice rejected the registration documents of the Azerbaijan Democracy and Welfare Party (ADWP) three times, the party filed a complaint with the Baku Court of Appeal (BCA). However, on September 27, the BCA declared it "unacceptable" to consider the party's complaint, the ADWP reported. The party intends to file a cassation appeal against this decision to the Supreme Court.
Party lawyer Hafiz Hasanov believes that the Supreme Court will most likely return the case to the BCA.
In his opinion, the courts will "pass" the case to each other in order to delay the possibility of the ADWP to apply to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
ADWP leader Gubad Ibadoglu told Turan that in any case, the party will apply to the ECHR and achieve registration. In his opinion, the authorities do not register the ADWP "because of its growing authority in society."
“The tightening of the registration conditions under the new draft law on political parties and the requirement that the head of the organization reside in Azerbaijan over the past 20 years is also designed to remove the ADWP and me personally from political activity,” Ibadoglu is convinced; in recent years he has been living abroad due to scientific and teaching activities. -06D-
