Aliyev on the upcoming meeting with Pashinyan in Granada
Baku/02.10.23/Turan: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that his upcoming meeting in Granada with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan “will give impetus to the development of the peace agenda in the region.”
According to the website of the head of Azerbaijan, Aliyev announced this today in Baku while receiving the spiritual head of the Anglican Church, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.
According to him, “historic opportunities and a chance to advance the peace agenda have arisen in the region.”
The head of state emphasized that his administration made a statement addressed to the general public, as well as to the Karabakh Armenians in connection with ensuring their rights and security.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that “the upcoming meeting in Granada will give impetus to the development of the peace agenda in the region.”
Noting “the importance of building trust and ethnic reconciliation in such post-conflict settings,” Welby expressed a willingness to share his experience in this area.
Aliyev and Pashinyan will meet in Granada on October 5 as part of the European Political Community summit. –06V-

Arrested economist Fazil Gasimov has reportedly faced pressure after protesting the interruption of a phone call with his family on November 16. "The phone call was cut off, and Fazil demanded that the connection be restored. Then, Jalal Alizadeh, a detention center officer, along with his colleagues, forcibly removed Fazil from the phone room in the medical unit of the facility, tearing his jacket and dragging him across the floor before throwing him into a cell.
