Appeals to the European Court of Human Rights will be less
May 2, a regular meeting of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan will be held, with 12 items on the agenda.
The most interesting is the discussion of Protocol No 15 that so far has not entered into force (http://conventions.coe.int/Treaty/EN/Treaties/Html/213.htm) on changes in the Convention "Protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms" approved 24 June and adopted at the meeting of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, on 18 December last year.
Approval will take place against the background of violations of basic rights of the columnist of Zerkalo Rauf Mirkadirov, as well as human rights defenders Leila and Arif Yunus.
The document provides for the reduction of complaints to the European Court of Human Rights. According to experts, it does not mean that the courts of Azerbaijan will objectively consider cases. Just fewer calls will be allowed to communication.
Most searchers of justice in Europe live in Russia, Italy and Ukraine - they account for 40% of all complaints to the European Court. At the beginning of 2013 this instance accumulated 130,000 complaints and to the beginning of this year they became 95,000, as services of the court rejected the rest of the calls. -17D-
