Armenia Continues to Return Occupied Territories to Azerbaijan
Baku/06.02.21/Turan: Several positions near the village of Nerkin Khndzoresk were transferred to Azerbaijan on Friday. On February 4, units of the Armenian Armed Forces on combat duty withdrew from some of the positions that the Azerbaijanis had taken over. The distance from the rural houses to the nearby enemy position is now several hundred meters, head of the community Yervand Malunts told Sputnik Armenia.
Earlier it was reported that the Armenian armed forces were surrendering their positions near the village of Nerkin Khndzoresk to Azerbaijanis since yesterday. The Telegram channel Déjà Vu wrote about this with reference to its source.
Information was published yesterday that Azerbaijanis use GPS to determine the location of the state border on the territory of the Nerkin Khndzoresk community in the Armenian region of Syunik (Zangezur in Azerbaijani geography). The heads of the communities of the Syunik region are trying to resolve the issue on their own, since not a single representative of the Armenian government is involved in the delimitation work.
The Azerbaijani side does not comment on what is happening; Baku previously explained similar events by the restoration of the state border following the results of the 2020 war.
Earlier, the head of the community on Facebook denied rumors in the media and social networks about "the seizure of the village by Azerbaijanis." He stated that there are no Azerbaijanis there.
The return to Azerbaijan of its territories seized by Armenia in the nineties provokes protest actions of the Armenian population. Citizens blocked roads, demanding solutions to the problem of borders and "illegal demarcation" that deprives them of their rights, homes and security. The situation was especially aggravated by the Kapan-Goris road section, as well as several villages, including David Bek, Vorotan and Shurnukh. In no case were the demands of the protesters satisfied by Baku or ever supported by Yerevan. —0—
