Armenia Rejects Iranian Settlement Plan?
Baku / 02.10.20 / Turan: Iran's special envoy for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, Abbas Arakchi, in an interview with Azerbaijan Public TV said that Tehran's plan is based on respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, end of occupation, respect for the rights of minorities and the return of refugees. Thus, he confirmed the previously proposed settlement principles, developed by the OSCE Minsk Group, but never implemented.
Perhaps the only difference is the participation in the settlement of Iran and the exclusion of France and the United States from the list of mediators. This conclusion can be drawn from the words of the envoy of Tehran.
"A realistic view, a regional approach and the participation of influential countries in the region are the content of the Iranian plan, and this plan, within the framework of a regional partnership, is designed to resolve this issue and induce both sides to fulfill their demands," Arakchi said.
"If all the parties act in good faith, and the interference of certain countries outside the region, which seek to destroy the relations, is prevented, we can achieve results," Arakchi said.
Let us remind you that last week Tehran's envoy visited Baku, Moscow, Ankara and Yerevan, where he presented the Iranian initiative. The reaction of all the sides was restrained, and in Yerevan they promised to "study" Tehran's idea. Later, experts close to the Armenian government made it clear that Tehran's plan did not suit Yerevan, for it assumes something that Armenia has already refused. -02B-
