Azerbaijan Amends List of Classified Information Under Presidential Decree
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev issued a decree on Thursday amending the list of classified information approved under a 2005 presidential order. The changes align with amendments to the country’s laws on "Accounting" and "State Secrets" passed by parliament on December 22, 2023.
The decree updates the section on state defense orders and military production in the "List of Information Classified as State Secrets," initially approved on June 3, 2005. The revised text details the classification of data on state defense orders, production volumes, and financial reports of defense-related enterprises.
The updated provision specifies that information related to state defense orders, including production, export, and sale of weapons, military equipment, and other military products, will remain classified. Additionally, details about manufacturing capacities, production locations, financial statements of defense enterprises, and their cooperation with other entities are to be kept confidential.
This decree follows recent legislative changes aimed at enhancing the management and protection of sensitive information related to Azerbaijan’s defense and strategic industries.
President Aliyev signed the decree under Article 109(32) of the Azerbaijani Constitution. It marks another step in strengthening national security policies in light of evolving regional and global challenges.
The changes take effect immediately, reinforcing the government’s commitment to safeguarding sensitive defense-related information.
