Azerbaijan, Cambodia and Nepal join the SCO as partners

At the meeting of the Council of Heads of State  of Shanhay Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Ufa, the Russian President said that a number of countries are interested in joining  this organization. "Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia,  and Nepal  would like to join the family of the SCO as dialogue partners,"  he said, opening a meeting of the Council of Heads of the SCO. According to Putin, there are other countries that wish to participate in the SCO. "Yet a number of countries have expressed interest in joining our organization in one form or another. We will carefully  consider  their  applications  taking into account relevant requirements," he said.

* The SCO includes six states - Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The origins lie in the SCO military cooperation, but later the Organization has emphasized economic ties. The SCO was established in 2001. -02D-
