Azerbaijan is in the top ten most militarized countries
Azerbaijan is recognized as one of the most militarized countries in the world. In the ranking, which is annually published by Bonn International Conversion Institute, Azerbaijan took the 8th place.
One of the main parameters taken into account in the rankings was the ratio of military spending to the level of GDP. So the U.S., ahead of all other countries on the amount of military spending, was only on the 30th place. Another indicator accounted for is the number of reservists. As for Israel, it is for the fifth year in a row called the most militarized country.
The least militarized countries, according to the index, are Madagascar, Niger, Jamaica, Ghana and Mauritius. However, many of the countries closing the ranking are covered with a lot of internal violence.
The top ten most militarized countries, according to the Bonn Institute, look like this:
