Azerbaijan is ready for negotiations with Armenia through intermediary of Charles Michel – I. Aliyev
Baku/20.01.23/Turan: Azerbaijan is ready to negotiate with Armenia through the mediation of the President of the Council of the European Union, Charles Michel. This was stated by President Ilham Aliyev on January 19 at a meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte within the framework of the Davos World Economic Forum.
Aliyev informed about the progress of negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan with a view of concluding a peace agreement. He emphasized the importance of Charles Michel' support on the issue and expressed readiness to continue negotiations within this framework.
Touching upon the situation on the Lachin-Khankandi road, he pointed out that Armenia falsely claims that the road is blocked thus misleading the international community.
Aliyev turned attention to the illegal exploitation of Azerbaijan's natural resources in the territories where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed. This is exactly what caused the fair discontent of the Azerbaijani public, and the protest action on this road is related to this circumstance.
At present, the road provides unhindered movement of required humanitarian supplies through Russian peacekeepers, the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as civilians and civilian cargo.
In conclusion, Aliyev stressed the importance of the withdrawal of "criminal elements" from Karabakh.
In addition, on January 19, in Davos, Ilham Aliyev held meetings with Croatian Prime Minister Andrey Plenkovic, Montenegro Prime Minister Dritan Abazovich, EU Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Hahn, Chairman of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab.
At a meeting with the founder of the Indian company "Adani Group", Gautam Adani, issues of cooperation within the East-West and North-South transport corridors were discussed.
Gautam Adani reported on his company's experience in managing ports in various regions of the world, transportation and investments in this area in a number of countries.
The parties discussed the possibilities of direct foreign investments by "Adani Group" in the petrochemical, mining, metallurgical and other spheres of Azerbaijan. An agreement was reached on mutual visits of delegations and more detailed discussions. -06D-
