Azerbaijan Refuses Associative Agreement with EU - Ilham Aliyev
Baku/06.03.21/Turan: Azerbaijan is preparing to sign an "equal agreement" with the European Union and it is 90 percent ready. This was stated by President Ilham Aliyev speaking on March 5 at the congress of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.
“We have established close ties with the European Union. Strategic partnership documents have been signed with 9 member states of the European Union. I don’t want to talk about anyone now, but I must say so. Which of the Eastern Partnership countries signed a strategic partnership document with 9 EU member states? None. They signed an associative agreement. I have seen this agreement. This is actually not an agreement, but an instruction, just an instruction. These countries are instructed to do this this way or the other way. I gave it up. I said that we do not need such instructions. We ourselves know what to do,” Aliyev said.
According to him, Azerbaijan is building relations with the EU on equal terms.
“Today we are working on an equal agreement with the European Union, it has already been agreed by 90 percent. Of course, the pandemic and the war intervened a little in these matters. These negotiations will be resumed in the near future. Therefore, we have achieved success in this area, because we have a multilateral foreign policy with other countries," said the President. - 06D-
