Azerbaijan Sues Armenia - MP
Baku/08.02.21/Turan: Azerbaijan appealed to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) with a statement in connection with the aggression of Armenia, a member of the Milli Mejlis Committee on Legal Policy and State Construction Issues Kamran Jafarov told Turan.
The application was submitted not on behalf of citizens, but - of the government of Azerbaijan, Jafarov stressed.
According to Kamal Jafarov, the statement raises the issue of violation of a number of rights of Azerbaijani citizens as a result of the occupation of the Nagorno-Karabakh region and surrounding seven regions by Armenia.
In addition, the complaint raises the question of Armenia's failure to take measures to clarify the fate of 3,800 Azerbaijani citizens who went missing in the first Karabakh war.
Along with this, he raises the question of shelling the Armenian Armed Forces during the 44-day second Karabakh war with ballistic missiles, phosphorus shells, cluster bombs in violation of the Geneva Convention of cities and villages of Azerbaijan far from the combat zone.
The ECHR presented evidence of the death of 93 civilians as a result of shelling by Armenian troops, including 12 children, 28 women, 423 civilians injured, the destruction of 264 apartment buildings, including 10 in the city of Ganja, 9294 private houses, damage to many other objects property.
As the MP stressed, this is the first lawsuit against Armenia by Azerbaijan in the ECHR on behalf of the state. –06D-
