Azerbaijan to produce 10 GW of electricity from renewable sources
Baku/09.11.23/Turan: In the near future, Azerbaijan will become a potential exporter of "green", including hydrogen energy. This was stated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, speaking at the 16th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
In accordance with contracts with foreign investors, the production of energy from renewable sources in Azerbaijan will reach 10 GW in the coming years.
The President recalled that recently the opening of the Garadagh solar power plant with a capacity of 230 MW, developed by the UAE company "Masdar", took place in Azerbaijan. It has become the largest solar power plant in the Caspian and Caucasus regions.
Aliyev added that in 2021-2023, hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 170 MW were put into operation in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur liberated from the Armenian occupation.
"By the end of 2024, this figure will stand at 270 MW. In a few years, the total capacity of our hydroelectric power plants in the liberated territories will be 500 MW," Aliyev said. -06B-
