Azerbaijan Without Voting Rights in PACE
During the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) that opened today in Strasbourg, the issue of restoring Azerbaijan's voting rights will not be considered. This became clear after the Azerbaijani parliament did not submit a request to PACE for the reinstatement of its delegation's powers. Recall that Azerbaijan was deprived of its voting rights in PACE in January of the previous year.
The initiator of Azerbaijan's removal from the Council of Europe, German parliamentarian Frank Schwabe, wrote on the social media platform X: “Azerbaijan accepts that it cannot have a delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe due to fundamental disregard for the values and rules of the Council of Europe and is not sending a delegation to Strasbourg for accreditation.”
