Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry asks State Security Council (SSC) to investigate libel
Baku/08.06.20/Turan: The press service of the Foreign Ministry said that a slanderous campaign was being conducted against the ministry. In this regard, an appeal was made to the State Security Service, spokesperson Leyla Abdullayeva told a number of local media.
“Freedom of expression does not give the right to stain honor and dignity. Those who disseminate insulting and libelous information by interfering in their personal lives should be held accountable,” she said.
According to her, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs carries out tasks of strategic importance, and intentional lie about this important state body seriously threatens national interests, detrimental to the country's international reputation.
At the same time, Abdullayeva did not specify who, how and when conducted this same slanderous campaign.
In recent days, the press has been actively discussing materials about the purchase by the son of the Minister of two apartments in New York for $ 4.2 million. After that, a video from the wedding of the minister’s son appeared in social networks, where he dances to an Armenian song.
For requests from journalists to comment on these materials, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson responded that she did not comment on the personal lives of employees. -03D-
