Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry: Monument to "Nemesis" is evidence of Armenia's support for terrorism
Baku/26.04.23/Turan: The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the installation of a monument in the Armenian capital Yerevan devoted to terrorist operation "Nemesis", during which a number of Azerbaijani and Turkish state officials were assassinated.
"The installation of this monument with the permission and approval of the appropriate Armenian state authorities, as well as the participation of the deputy mayor of Yerevan and other officials, including members of the ruling party, in the opening ceremony is an encouragement of the Armenian state's terrorist policy and promotion of terrorist acts committed by it throughout history," reads a statement of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
During terrorist operation "Nemesis", aimed at members of the Government of the People's Republic of Azerbaijan and the Turkish statesmen, along with officials of the Ottoman State, in 1920-1922 there were assassinated former Prime Ministers Fataly-khan Khoyski and Nasibbek Yusifbekov, former Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Hasan-bek Agayev, former Interior Minister Behbud-khan Javanshir.
The ASALA and other Armenian terrorist organizations are also known to have carried out over 235 terrorist acts in 22 countries worldwide during the 1970s and 1980s, assassinating 24 Turkish diplomats.
Since the late 1980s, Armenia has carried out some 30 large-scale terrorist attacks against Azerbaijan, including underground and bus bombings, where the terrorists targeted civilians.
The Foreign Ministry statement also draws attention to the fact that the ASALA and its offshoots, the Arabo and Aramo terrorist groups, were directly involved in the Khojaly genocide against Azerbaijanis.
"The demonstration of Armenian terrorist, ASALA member Ambik Sasunian, who assassinated Turkish diplomat Kemal Aryk, the portrayal of SS General Garegin Nzhdeh and Drastamat Kanayan, known by the nickname "Dro", as 'national heroes' in Armenia and the perpetuation of their names is a visual evidence of the fact that the promotion of Nazism in Armenia is a part of the state policy," said a statement of the Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.
State support for terrorism in Armenia, which has been used by radical Armenian groups throughout history, must be strongly condemned by the international community. Armenia must stop its policy of terrorism to ensure peace and tranquillity in the region.
"Armenian terrorism, extremism, aggressive separatism and all forms and manifestations of racial discrimination must be fought resolutely beyond double standards."
"The erection of the monument to the "Nemesis" operation and other above-mentioned steps by Armenia seriously question the "sincerity" and "goodwill" of this country in the talks aimed at normalizing relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey. The path to peace and reconciliation lies not so much in the glorification of crimes and errors, as in their recognition," the statement of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry concluded. -06В-

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan rejected Ilham Aliyev's demands for Yerevan to stop acquiring weapons. "Armenia has acquired and will continue to acquire weapons solely for the purpose of self-defense. Over 200 square kilometers of our sovereign territory is under the control of Azerbaijan. And even to regain these territories, we do not intend to consider military action, but rather a process of demarcation. So, we are buying weapons and have no intention of sending them back," he stated.
