Azerbaijani leadership mourns Rustam Ibrahimbekov
Baku/12.03.22/Turan: Azerbaijani leadership has published an obituary on the death of world famous screenwriter Rustam Ibrahimbekov, signed by President Ilham Aliyev, First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, other officials, representatives of the creative community.
"Azerbaijani culture has suffered a great loss. A prominent representative of the contemporary Azerbaijani literature and cinema art, a famous prose writer, playwright, screenwriter and director, a personal pensioner of the President of Azerbaijan, laureate of state prizes, Honored Art Worker, People's Writer Rustam Mammadibrahim Ibrahimbekov passed away on March 10, 2022," the obituary says.
The publication devoted to the memory of Ibrahimbekov mentions his creative services to literature and cinematography, his public activities and state awards.
Note that in the late 2000s, the authorities' attitude towards Ibragimbekov deteriorated sharply after he publicly criticized the problems in state management, incompetence of some high-ranking officials in charge of culture and public relations and corruption.
A criminal case was opened against Ibrahimbekov, and he was actually exiled abroad.
However, in recent years, the government's attitude towards him changed, the case against him was closed, and he was able to return to Azerbaijan and resume his work on the development of national cinema.
It is not yet known where Ibrahimbekov will be buried. He died in Moscow and now there is no direct air communication with Russia. Perhaps a special flight will be arranged to deliver the body of the deceased. -06В-
