Baku is ready to receive Armenian journalists - Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry
Baku / 16.04.19 / Turan: Is Azerbaijan ready to receive Armenian journalists on its territory? Foreign Ministry representative Leyla Abdullayeva answered affirmatively to this question of the Moscow newspaper "Kommersant": "Baku has always been determined to create conditions that would contribute to the emergence and strengthening of an atmosphere of relative understanding between the societies of Azerbaijan and Armenia."
The question of visiting prisoners by relatives from the conflicting parties is also relevant for the parties, because in Azerbaijan and Armenia there are prisoners from both countries.
A source in the Armenian Foreign Ministry made it clear that relatives of Azerbaijani prisoners are ready to be allowed to visit them in Armenia and in Karabakh.
When asked if the newspaper would allow Baku to leave its citizens in Armenia and Karabakh, Leyla Abdullayeva noted, "The Azerbaijani authorities have never imposed strict restrictions on visiting by their citizens of Armenia and especially our occupied territories". According to her, the rarity of such trips is connected only with the fact that Azerbaijanis refrain from them "for reasons of personal security", but the situation may change "if the Armenian side provides adequate security guarantees."
It should be noted that the statement adopted following the April 15 meeting in Moscow of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia, states that they are ready to organize mutual visits of journalists and organize visits to convicts by their relatives. -02D-
