Baku reminded Paris of futility of attempts to put pressure on Azerbaijan
Baku/12.10.23/Turan: The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the accusations against Azerbaijan voiced by French Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna during a speech in the Senate on October 11.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry called the Colonna's claims that the mass departure of Karabakh Armenians from Karabakh was "planned by Baku" unfounded. In fact, the Armenians left the region voluntarily and without any pressure.
The Colonna's statements contradict the statements of international organizations and even the Prime Minister of Armenia on September 21 that there are no threats to the civilian population in Karabakh.
Such a position of Paris testifies to its interest in continuing its biased policy towards Azerbaijan.
"France has taken no steps over 27 years to implement four UN Security Council resolutions demanding the liberation of Azerbaijani territories from occupation, and now calls for the adoption of a resolution against Azerbaijan, which is a vivid example of its hypocrisy.2
"We remind the French side once again that using the language of threats and pressure against Azerbaijan will not bring any results, such destructive actions should be stopped immediately. All steps against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan will be resolutely suppressed," the Foreign Ministry's commentary emphasizes.
It may be reminded that the Colonna stated in the Senate that France will demand the adoption of a resolution on the return of Armenians to Karabakh at the UN Security Council. "Azerbaijan planned and organized the exodus of more than 100.000 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh. This grave crime cannot remain unanswered. The conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be settled through negotiations. Baku must understand that it cannot follow the path of using force," she said. -06B-
