Baku will act adequately- if Armenia does not withdraw its forces from Karabakh and open communications - I.Aliyev
Baku/14.10.22/Turan: Armenia does not fulfill its part of the obligations under the tripartite statement on November 10, 2020 - it does not provide unhindered access from Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan and does not withdraw its armed forces from Karabakh, President Ilham Aliyev stated on October 14 at the CIS summit in Astana.
“Azerbaijan fulfills all the points of the declaration, including ensuring unhindered access from Armenia to Karabakh. Armenia does not fulfill its part of the Declaration. Namely, it does not provide unhindered access from the main part of Azerbaijan to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which is its legal obligation, and has not yet withdrawn the Armenian armed forces from Azerbaijani territory. We are still showing patience, but it is not unlimited. If these two important points of the tripartite Statement of November 2020 are not implemented, we will have no other choice but to act adequately," Aliyev said.
Speaking about the Armenians of Karabakh, he said that the position of Baku was expressed on October 6 at a meeting in Prague. “Karabakh is Azerbaijan. The rights and security of the Armenian population of Karabakh will be ensured in accordance with the Constitution of Azerbaijan. We are not going to discuss our internal issues with either side,” Aliyev stressed. --02D--

In a case that is disappointing but not surprising, the agreement between the government of Azerbaijan and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) for hosting the climate conference COP29, is replete with significant shortcomings and ambiguities on the protections for participants’ rights. Human Rights Watch has obtained a copy of this host country agreement, signed in August 2024, which has yet to be made public.
