Calls for Ceasefire in Karabakh Unacceptable - Erdogan
Baku / 01.10.20 / Turan: The people and parliament of Turkey have at all times supported the fair struggle of friendly peoples: from Cyprus to Azerbaijan, from the Balkans to northern Africa. This was stated by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking on Thursday at the opening of the autumn session of the Turkish parliament.
The Turkish leader stressed that Ankara supports Azerbaijan in a just struggle for the liberation of the occupied lands.
According to him, the battles, which began with the Armenian shelling of peaceful villages in Azerbaijan, once again confirmed that the Caucasus region is very explosive.
“The condition for long-term peace in the Caucasus is the liberation of every piece of the occupied lands of Azerbaijan. Turkey perceives Azerbaijan from the prism of the “one nation and two states” principle. We will continue to provide all possible support to the Azerbaijani brothers,” he said.
Erdogan called on the Armenian authorities to stop the flow of lies and disinformation regarding Turkey. “The invaders must leave the lands of Azerbaijan. The hour of settlement has come,” the head of state said.
The Turkish President further stressed that the countries that ignore the occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh are two-faced. He criticized the position of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries.
“The ongoing calls by the co-chairs for a ceasefire are unacceptable. The solution to the problem will come after the withdrawal of the Armenian Armed Forces from the territory of Azerbaijan. Our brothers in Azerbaijan are forced to solve their problem themselves. The calls of the countries that ignore the fact of occupation are not important for us,” Erdogan stressed. -02D-

Azerbaijan is positioning itself as a key energy partner for Europe amidst growing challenges in the natural gas market following the cessation of Russian gas transit through Ukraine. The disruption, marking the end of a decade-long transit route, is expected to heighten competition in the global liquefied natural gas (LNG) market and drive up prices for alternative energy sources.
