CEC refused to register as a candidate in the presidential election on October 9 the head of the REAL movement Ilgar Mamedov, explaining it with the lack of a sufficient number of signatures in his favor.
Mamedov is in custody in connection with the events of January 23-24 in Ismayilly.
He is recognized by Amnesty International as «prisoner of conscience."
The registration was also denied for the head of the party "Citizens and Development" Ali Aliyev. -0 –

On February 13, the Appeal Court did not satisfy the defense's appeal against the decision of the Khatai Court regarding the arrest of journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi. According to the lawyer, the journalist herself did not participate in the trial due to poor health. The defense intends to submit a petition to replace the arrest with house arrest.
