Consultations on Karabakh to be held in the UN Security Council
Baku/17.10.20/Turan: At the request of the Russian Federation, the United States and France, the UN Security Council will hold closed consultations on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh on October 19. Fyodor Strzhizhovsky, the press secretary of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN, reported this to the Interfax news agency on Saturday, October 17.
Earlier, the UN Security Council held closed consultations in connection with the escalation of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. Following the September 29 meeting, the Security Council members called on Azerbaijan and Armenia to immediately end hostilities and return to negotiations. Because of negotiations in Moscow, the parties agreed on a ceasefire from October 10, but on the same day Baku and Yerevan accused each other of violating the ceasefire.
Armenia sent military personnel to Moscow to meet with representatives of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, but Baku refused a similar step. On Friday evening, October 16, the press secretary of the Prime Minister of Armenia Mane Gevorgyan told TASS agency about this.
Meanwhile, Baku and Yerevan blame each other for missile strikes.
On the night of October 17, Baku accused Armenia of launching missile strikes on the cities of Ganja and Mingechevir. In turn, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said that Azerbaijani drones attacked military targets in the south of the country, DW reports. —0—
