Court of Appeal Leaves General Gabil Mammadov Out of Elections
Baku / 23.01.20 / Turan: On the evening of January 22, the Court of Appeal, chaired by Vugar Hasanov, upheld the CEC decision not to register Gabil Mammadov as a candidate for deputy in the parliamentary elections on February 9 from the 73rd Lankaran constituency.
In his comment, the former commander of the Barda corps of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Gabil Mammadov, said it was a flagrant violation of the law and he intended to continue the struggle for his rights.
* On January 17, the Supreme Court upheld the complaint of General Gabil Mammadov against the decision of the Court of Appeal, which refused to satisfy the complaint about the unlawful refusal of the Lankaran District Electoral Commission (DEC) to register Mammadov.
Recall that the reason for the DEC refusal of the registration was allegedly false information from Mammadov about his real estate and property. However, he submitted documents refuting the false certificates submitted to the DEC by the head of the police and the State Register of Lankaran.
Azerbaijan’s CEC ignored Mammadov’s arguments and upheld the DEC’s decision. -02D-
